Wouldn't it be nice if you find a clean - semi-organized site with links to cool stuff to do around the West Coast - Welcome to Data Overland- Fusing Data Science and Overlanding.

"Be Honest, Share what your can, help those who ask, and make the world a better place"

I believe in open data and open science, I feel that with access to data and information the world would overall be a better place. We have seen examples of data being used for both good and bad purposes - but I think overall data will be a driving force in the years to come. When I look at Overlanding sites - they are often riddled with a lack of information, for example, I went to the Blah Blah Blah Hot Springs, but they don't include any GPS information - any links - or any information that is useful. Many people I have talked to will tell me - DON'T Share this location because I don't want it to get "too public." However, I did a small data-mining experiment on another blogger site - comparing places they listed GPS or direction and places they had hidden. While it is a small sample - the hidden sites were closed down MORE than the publicly listed sites.

I think some of the reasons are because if a place is hidden it has no value or at least the value is in question.

I will be as transparent as possible: I hope to provide - clear GPS direction - other trusted sites and much more.

p.s. If you find spelling mistakes or typos - please let us know. I use more of an Agile development-posting method or (MVP) Minimum viable product (I want to get the information out ASAP and not sit on the information for 3 months.
